I don’t normally post on Saturdays, but with the phenomenal news out of New York last night I thought this was more than appropriate. I love Christopher Kane, rainbows, and the progression of civil rights.
This week I’m looking back instead of forward, with the illustrations of David Klein. Although his catalog is vast, he is probably best known for his work illustrating travel posters for TWA. I am so in love with his approach to color and detail, if I had discovered him as a teenager there’s no doubt that his art would have coverd every inch of my bedroom walls. It’s quite easy to imagine these motifs interpreted on a variety of surfaces, and I’m positive that his iconic style has influenced surface designers all over the globe. Below are a few of my favorites.
This Monday was a special one as my husband and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary. Below is an image taken at our wedding from 2010 [yes we had two weddings], photographed by the amazingly talented Noa, of Feather Love Photography.
A trip to our rooftop garden and a quick walk down my street produced an amazing amount of natural inspiration this week. I’m addicted to the macro setting on my little digital camera, which is several years old and not all that high-tech, but creates some great results! I hope you enjoy this set of photos, I am particularly inspired by the striped textures from the trunk of a palm tree in the last photo.
