It’s Spring time in a different part of the world, and this week’s color story is in their honor. This whole arrangement is putting me in a Beach Boys kind of mood. Hope you’re starting off to a great week!

When I came across this set of illustrations on 50 Watts I was instantly attracted and had to double check the name behind the penmanship. They are by a fellow named Harry Clarke and were created for for a 1925 edition of Goethe’s Faust, but the style reminds me of Aubrey Beardsley’s work, of which I am a fan. I even have this print of his, framed in my bedroom. That could be why I am loving the below images by Mr. Clarke. The organic lines and intricate detail he put into his work is incredible. I particularly love the contrast between geometric and organic ornamentation in the very last image posted below. A little creepy, yes I’ll give you that. Perhaps I should have saved this post for the end of October?
We all expect to see floral prints in a spring show, but several designers have seemingly reinvented the floral using digital media and printing techniques. You might call it fashion forward, I like to think of it as florals from the future. I’m not sure who’s ready to rock this trend just yet, but I love it and imagine we’ll be seeing more of it as accessibility to technology continues to grow.
Stripes, stripes and more stripes. This is what we’re seeing in so many of the Spring ’12 collections. It’s incredibly hard to pick a favorite, but I’m particularly smitten with the pants by Tommy Hilfiger. Do you think these looks are too much, or can you already see them in your closet?
Picture an overgrown, mossy forest in the mist, and you’ll probably need to borrow a few colors from the below mood board. Earthy greens and browns with a hint of dusty lavender; we approve this palette for pretty much any season of the year.
