Resort 2013

With the new Spring shows literally just around the corner, I’ve nearly missed the window of opportunity to gush about all the incredible print trends the Resort collections had to offer. Alas, the goodness shall not be wasted. I’ll be recapping my favorite trends over the next few days, starting with a set of florals that would be worthy of any local art gallery. Paired with bold stripes, fragmented, and tossed with artful, expressive brush strokes – these postmodern florals have a quirky sophistication.

July was just bonkers. If you noticed the recent drop in posts you’ve probably already figured that out. But it was a good kind of busy, with exciting new projects and developments, and a little bit of fun on the side. So without further ado I’m bringing you another big time trend from the Resort 2013 collections. I’m still not certain that the mass population is ready to full-on embrace the head-to-toe printed ensemble, particularly the matching pant suit. These designers, however, are clearly ready. From simple to statement and everywhere in between; would you give one of these looks a whirl?

Since I can’t bury my toes into the golden sand of an exotic beach this morning, I thought I’d at least channel that thought into today’s color post. Not to mention, I’m fascinated by the head-to-toe print trend [which I first blogged about way back in this post] and these complimentary leopard prints from Giambattista Valli’s Resort 2013 collection really tickle my fancy.

There were some really consistent color trends throughout the Resort 2013 collections, which have conveniently been rounded up below into five easy palettes. A few honorable mentions would be the classic nautical red-white-and-blue combo, as well as a quirky mix of mismatched purples somewhat reminiscent of the elderly lady you sometimes see at the grocery store. I know you know what I’m talking about.
