My Fair Gift Guide: Holiday 2014 Edition

My Fair Gift Guide from My Fair Vanity

Once again, Rachel of My Fair Vanity has undertaken the great task of featuring hundreds of ultra stylish, eco-friendly products in her second annual holiday Gift Guide. And once again,  I am tickled pink to have been asked to contribute with a few of my favorite gifts for the color lover in your life. This year’s edition has all kinds of helpful guides to help ensure you match up the right gift with the people, from sustainable beauty products to uber-cute baby gear, and even a selection for the tree-hugging nature lovers you know.

Every single item shown has been selected for it’s status as one or more of the following: made in the USA, fair trade, organic, handmade, made in Europe, upcycled/recycled. It’s now easier than ever to gift something that is kind to the Earth and the people living on it. It’s just another reason to feel warm and fuzzy this holiday season.

And last but not least, that is indeed an Aaryn West print on the gilded Gift Guide cover. A big thank you goes out to Rachel for including me in what is becoming a great holiday tradition!

Spring 2015 Runway Trends: Global Ikat

Spring 2015 Runway Trends: Global Ikat via Aaryn West

Ikat prints have been at the forefront of mainstream fashion for several seasons now, and continue to inspire designers, even at the runway level. The primitive hand and global sensibility of these simple motifs make them both universal and able to transcend typical seasonal parameters. You can never have enough of these prints in your collection.

Spring 2015 Runway Trends: Wordsmith

Some might say that every print tells a story. While that might make an adequate metaphor in most cases, this particular trend displays a more literal interpretation. We found a noteworthy number of typographic prints parading down the runway in the Spring 2015 shows. This can be a tricky trend to tackle as every typeface and recognizable word will conjure a different feeling in your audience – much more so than a paisley or floral element. Our advice is to either distort your overall design just enough to prevent your written words from being fully discernible, or pick a simple word or short phrase to repeat that you think will be universally likable.

Spring 2015 Runway Trends: Flower Child

Spring 2015 Runway Trends: Flower Child via Aaryn West

With all of the psychedelic flower power found blooming in the Spring ’15 runway shows, we had to wonder just how many designers were drinking from the same well of acid-laced Kool-Aid? (Um.. and where can we get some?!) This may just be the trend we are most excited to see emerging from the newest shows. With dizzying and playful motifs, and colors that nearly surpass louder-than-life status, these vintage florals are sure to be the life of the Spring print party.
